This is the shortest of the Jane Austen novels and quite the easiest read as well. Our heroine in the story is Catherine Moreland, a young lady who lets her imagination go a bit too far sometimes. Ms. Austen proves the point in this book that there is a difference between innocent daydreaming and living in a dream world. Also, we must be careful of how much we assume about others and their lives and what is really going on behind the scenes. Of course, all this is put across in a very playful way. During my reading of this novel, several times I thought to myself, "Did Jane Austen really write this?" It is quite a different style from her more serious, oft-times depressing drama, before the dawning hope type of writing.
Highly recommended, especially for young women.
