Stepping Heavenward, by Elizabeth Prentiss

Written in the style of a young woman's journal, this book will convince you that someone spied on you and then told the author. Every girl and woman I have talked to who has read this book says, "It was like reading my own diary!" Beginning at Kathrine's 15th birthday, we see her life unfold into a drama, filled with frustrations as she earnestly desires to live a Christian life, yet continually struggles with her selfish ways. You will see played out in her everyday occurences those daily temptations to seek happiness instead of Christ-likeness. She marries a man very different from herself, quiet in his affections, steady in his work, but loving in everything he does. Katie is often frustrated with her husband, not understanding decisions he makes, or his seeming inability to do things her way. God places in her path, though, mentors and encouragement at just the right times.
I don't want to give away too much of the story, but it really is an inspiring read, humorous at times, always honest in its telling.
~~Recommended for girls of all ages (12 to 120) :-) & men, too, if you want to attempt to understand the women in your life.
